We study a simple model of a conveyor belt. We calculate the relation between the torque M and the belt–pulley slip s. We present numerical results for the M(s) relation, and for the frictional energy dissipation as a function of the slip, which is important for the rubber wear. The theory includes both the belt compliance and the pulley tread block stiffness.
